Introducing Pay by App - a new way to access your park at the Chancery Car Park using only your phone & license plate.

Starting 1 July 2021, when you enter the P2 car park at the Chancery, a Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) camera will recognise your vehicle on entry and exit and automatically log your parking session.

No more losing swipe cards or leaning out your window in the rain - just drive in and park!

To make sure you have time to adjust, we will have both the app & the swipe card system working in tandem until 15 July 2021, when the swipe card system will be deactivated.

How does it work?

A special license plate recognition camera has been installed at the entry and exit to the car park. This camera reads the front license plate of your vehicle. To ensure an accurate read, you should drive through the lane at no more than 10 km/h. When your license plate is read it is checked against a list of permitted plates (in the event that your license plate is not known to Secure Parking, you may receive an infringement notice). You don’t have to do anything when parking – just drive in and park! The same applies when leaving, just drive slowly out. The camera will again recognize your plate and end the parking session.

How do I register my license plate(s)?

This is done through the Secure Pay by App. Inside the app there is a menu item labelled Plates. Select this and add your plate(s) there. Note that only one of these plates can be set to be active at any one time.

How do I download the app?

The Secure Pay by App is available for download from the App Store for Android and iOS devices.

You will need your email address to register your account. If you haven’t already done so, you will need to let us know the email address you used for registration so that we can authorise and activate your access to the car park.

What do I do if I am driving a new or different car?

You must add and opt in the plate of the vehicle to the app to ensure that it is known to Secure Parking prior to entering the car park. Please also note that it can take up to five minutes for the plate to sync up, so you should perform the update prior to beginning your journey.

Are there any changes to what and how I pay for my car parking space?

No. Payment will continue to be administered in the same way as it is at present.

What happens when I need to enter to exit after opening hours?

The app also includes a Bluetooth gate opening function. Open the app on your phone and approach the roller door slowly. The app will detect that you are in-front of the roller door and present a button, that when pressed will open the gate.
